The City of Cookeville takes pride in its residential, commercial, and industrial areas. We work hard to promote a clean, safe living environment by enforcing a set of rules, or codes, which support the health, welfare, and safety of our community.
Codes, such as the 2018 International Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel, and 2017 Electrical Codes, enable us to enforce these standards regulating land use and property maintenance. If you have a question about these codes, or about a possible violation of them, please refer to the Codes FAQ section. We will be happy to investigate your concerns or answer any questions you may have.
Yard Sale permits are $2 and are available from the Codes Department at City Hall. Citizens are allowed 3 yard sale permits per year per household or location.
The Cookeville City Council adopted an ordinance regulating Short Term Rental Units within the city limits of Cookeville in December 2017. Homeowners wishing to rent their property for short term rentals through sites like VRBO, Airbnb, and similar sites are required to obtain a permit. Please fill out the following form and bring it and other required documents to Cookeville City Hall.
