Please join WCTE PBS and the Cookeville Performing Arts Center in welcoming world renowned documentarian Ken Burns and his prestigious crew to Cookeville on March 24, 2019, at 6:30 AM (THIS IS NOT A TYPO) at the Cookeville Performing Arts Center. There is NO CHARGE for tickets but seats are limited, please RSVP at wcte.org.

WCTE will kick off Ken Burns’ North America Press Tour and everyone is invited! Ken and his longtime collaborators Dayton Duncan and Julie Dunfey will visit Cookeville Sunday, March 24 to promote their new music documentary Country Music coming to PBS this fall.

Burns is known for his style of using archival footage and photographs in documentary films and Country Music is only the most recent documentary from this renowned American filmmaker to embrace the PBS stage. His widely known documentary series include The Civil War (1990), Baseball (1994), Jazz (2001), The War (2007), and The Vietnam War (2017). Burns' documentaries have earned two Academy Awards nominations (each for 1981's Brooklyn Bridge and 1985's Statue of Liberty) and have won several Emmy Awards, among other honors.

Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute focuses on performing songs by America's Band, The Beach Boys, to sheer perfection. Members of Sail On have performed with musicians from Brian Wilson's band, The Zombies, Earth Wind and Fire, Cheap Trick, Mark Lindsay and produced recordings for Micky Dolenz. In 2018 Sail on performed over 70 dates across the country, including 3 nights filling in for Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, while accompanied by the famous Nashville Symphony.

Forever Abbey Road is comprised of five professional Nashville musicians who work hard at creating a unique show that demonstrates what the Beatles might sound like if they were around today with current technology and modern rock energy. Forever Abbey Road has also worked with colleagues of the Beatles including Denny Laine and Steve Holley from Paul McCartney and Wings.

Cultural Arts Support Team

The Cultural Arts Support Team (CAST) is a volunteer organization for individuals who enjoy the arts and other cultural activities, and who would be interested in assisting with events at the Performing Arts Center. For more information email Kim Frick-Welker.

The Performing Arts Center is accepting sponsorships for the renovated seats in the Margery Hargrove Auditorium. Individual or corporate seat sponsorships are $100 for each seat. Plaques on the seat arms are inscribed with the sponsor’s name or message. Call 931-528-1313 for your tax-deductible sponsorship.
