West Stevens Street, between South Willow Avenue and South Franklin Avenue, will close at 7 a.m. on Monday, March 17 and will continue to close daily for the next two to the three months.
This street section will close each morning at approximately 7 a.m. and re-open each afternoon for evening and overnight use. However, drivers should be mindful when travelling through this construction area. Residents and visitors are advised to seek alternative routes when possible. During the day, this section will only be accessible to residents and emergency vehicles.
Connecting side streets Carr Avenue, Kacie Avenue, South Franklin Avenue, and Short Street can be used a detours around the construction. These streets lead from Steven Street to Hughes Street and out to South Willow Avenue and West Jackson Street.
Additionally, the access road to the back of Jackson Plaza will be closed throughout the duration of the project.
This closure is part of the Steven Street Road Improvement Project which aims to widen the street and install new sidewalks, sewer lines, utility poles, and street lighting from South Willow Avenue to West Jackson Street. A center turn lane will also be added at the intersection of West Stevens Street and South Willow Avenue.
