[ARCHIVED] Third Thursday concert series presents Four Leaf Peat June 21

Four Leaf Peat band members

COOKEVILLE – Four Leaf Peat, Tennessee’s premier traditional Irish band, will take the stage at Dogwood Park on June 21 for Cookeville Leisure Service’s Third Thursdays in the Park concert series.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. (In case of inclement weather, the concert will move to the Cookeville Performing Arts Center, 10 E. Broad St.)

“I think folks enjoy Third Thursday concerts because we provide a variety of free music throughout the summer, and the setting of the park in the evening is very nice,” Chad McDonald, Cookeville Leisure Services cultural arts superintendent, said. “There’s nothing quite like listening to good music with your toes in the grass.”

Four Leaf Peat’s sound is the result of its members’ various musical backgrounds and continued passion for traditional Irish music. They include Cookeville native Gil Draper (guitar, vocal, mandolin and bouzouki), Chad Beauchaine (fiddle), Rick Hall (hammer dulcimer, vocals, uilleann pipes and bodhran) and Jason Herrera (bodhran, vocals, flute and whistle). The band has performed throughout the region since 2004.

Traditional Irish music ranges from vibrant dance tunes to soulful songs.

“Four Leaf Peat’s performances are always marked by a keen sense of tradition mixed with just the right amount of influence from the rich musical history of East Tennessee,” the band’s website says.

Additional Third Thursday concerts are scheduled for July 19 and Aug. 16. For more information, call 931-520-4386.
