[ARCHIVED] History Hike on July 11 features Cookeville Depot trivia

Depot visitors look for answers to trivia questions.

COOKEVILLE – It’s a “hike” Cookeville Depot fans will want to take.

Saturday’s History Hike, presented by Cookeville Leisure Services, features outdoor depot trivia at 116 W. Broad St. Participants can pick up an entry form between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and then search the historic museum grounds for answers.

“Whether the question is about the railroad track or the 509 steam engine, all answers can be found in the reading materials outside,” Ashley McKee, Cookeville museums education specialist, said. “I bet some of you will already know some of these cool facts.”

Those completing the free activity will be entered in a prize drawing sponsored by Del Monaco Winery and Toast Restaurant.

The Cookeville Depot, built in 1909, is on the National Register of Historic Places. The grounds feature a 1913 Baldwin steam engine, two cabooses and two track cars. Inside, visitors can see numerous Tennessee Central Railway artifacts and a large HO scale model railroad display.

History Hikes are held on the second Saturday of each month through October. For more information, call 931-528-8570.
