[ARCHIVED] Christmas Forest continues through Dec. 29 at Cookeville History Museum

Christmas Forest 2018

COOKEVILLE – A Christmas Forest has taken root at the Cookeville History Museum.

The third annual exhibit, which consists of approximately 15 trees decorated by non-profit groups, continues through Dec. 29. Admission is free.

“The Christmas Forest exhibit is such a fun, festive way to experience some of our local organizations,” Pam Philpot, museum exhibit specialist, said. “So much time and effort have gone into each tree, making the Cookeville History Museum magical for the holiday season.”

Groups include the Cookeville Doll Museum, Tennessee State Button Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Tennessee Tech Archives, Cookeville Crazy Quilters, Iris Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, Imagination Library, Cookeville Children’s Museum, Cookeville Camera Club, Cookeville Art Studio and Gallery, Master Gardeners, Family Community Education Clubs, 4-H Youth Development, Friends of the History Museum and Friends of the Depot Museum.

Tree styles range from traditional and elegant to fun and whimsical.

“Community projects like this promote togetherness and friendship during this fun-filled time of year,” Beth Thompson, Cookeville museums manager, said.

Thompson said the exhibit is an opportunity for participating organizations to spread awareness of their missions. Plus, it’s fun for people in the community to browse through the forest and see the numerous unique ornaments.

“Everyone involved has family and friends who love to visit and enjoy the trees their loved ones helped create,” she added. “This is a unique opportunity to see a myriad of talent.”

The museum, which is part of the City of Cookeville Leisure Services Department, is open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at 40 E. Broad St. For more information, call 931-520-5455.
