[ARCHIVED] City of Cookeville Begins New Wave of Street Repairs on July 23

The City of Cookeville has contracted Vulcan Materials to perform milling and resurfacing operations across several city streets and the McCulley Farms subdivision. Crews will begin work on Wednesday, July 23, starting with the milling phase.

Streets scheduled for milling include (in order of priority):

  • Fisk Road (north of the railroad tracks)
  • 10th Street (under the Highway 111 bridge)
  • Chocolate Drive
  • Wall Avenue (north of 10th Street)

Following milling on Fisk Road, the City’s construction crew will conduct repairs on a sinking utility line and subgrade beneath the street. To accommodate this work, a portion of Fisk Road will be reduced to two-lane traffic or temporarily detoured via Summerfield Road and Volunteer Drive, as needed.

Once milling operations are complete, resurfacing will proceed in the following order:

  • 10th Street (under the Highway 111 bridge)
  • Chocolate Drive
  • Wall Avenue (north of 10th Street)
  • Shanks Avenue
  • Syracuse Street (Shanks Avenue to Fisk Road)
  • Bilbrey Avenue (10th Street to Inglewood Drive)
  • Fisk Road (north of the railroad tracks)

Upon completion of these streets, crews will shift focus to the McCulley Farms subdivision.

While streets are being milled and resurface, drivers should anticipate street closure, lane shifts, and detours. The City appreciates the public’s patience as these necessary improvements are made to enhance roadway safety and quality.
