South Maple Avenue from East Stevens Street to East Veterans Drive will be completely closed throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21. Only residents living on the affected stretch of roadway will be allowed access. The street will be closed to all other traffic.
Due to safety concerns, the city's Public Works Department is demolishing and replacing portions of the concrete sidewalk, curb, and gutters along the street. Public Works will also address bank stabilization concerns in that area.
Work begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 20. The street will reopen on Monday evening and close again Tuesday morning. Public Works anticipates completion of the project by 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21.
All local residents should enter and/or exit at the closest end of the closure to minimize wait times and eliminate safety concerns.
