Add fun to your fitness routine with Hoop 30 and Pound Fit

People improve their fitness in a fun way with Hoop 30.

COOKEVILLE – Exercising just got more fun at Cane Creek Recreation Center.

Hoop 30 and Pound Fit are now among the group fitness classes being offered by Cookeville Leisure Services.

“We are so excited about our newest classes,” Jen Webb, Leisure Services special programs coordinator, said. “Hoop 30 is a 30-minute class in which participants use a weighted (two-pound) hoop. It is just like the fun you had as a kid, only it’s choreographed to music, giving you an effective but fun workout. Pound Fit is one of the most popular group fitness classes right now. Participants use lightweight drumsticks engineered specifically for exercise to tap along to the beat and get a fantastic workout.”

Cindy Dillon, a fitness instructor for more than 20 years, leads both classes.

“She is a pro!” Webb said. “She has so much positive energy and can lead anyone to a great workout no matter where they are in their fitness journey.”

Hoop 30 and Pound Fit are offered on Mondays at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., respectively. Hoops and drumsticks are provided, and workouts may be modified for all fitness levels.

Leisure Services fitness classes are $3 each unless otherwise noted. Participants may drop in – no membership fees or contracts are required. Fit Cards may be purchased for $30 (11 visits for the price of 10). Newcomers may try one fitness class for free.

Webb welcomes everyone to get involved in any of the 35 classes being offered per week in July at Cane Creek Recreation Center, 180 C C Camp Road.

“Group fitness not only gives you the guidance of a certified instructor, but the classes have so much energy,” Webb said. “The social aspect of group fitness is huge. You meet new people and have some friendly accountability that keeps you coming back.”

  • 9:30 a.m. – PiYo
  • 11 a.m. – STAC (strength training and conditioning)
  • 4 p.m. – Hoop 30
  • 4:30 p.m. – Pound Fit
  • 5:30 p.m. – Step & Strength  
  • 5:30 p.m. – Vinyasa Yoga
  • 5:30 p.m. – Boot Camp ($8)
  • 6:30 p.m. – Dance2Fit           

Tuesday

  • 8:15 a.m. – Spin 30
  • 9 a.m. – Mixed Yoga Flow
  • 9:30 a.m. – Club Cardio
  • 11 a.m. – Fit 4 Life
  • 4:15 p.m. – Club Cardio        
  • 5:30 p.m. – Cardio Core
  • 6:30 p.m. – Dance2Fit           

Wednesday

  • 8:15 a.m. – Club Cardio
  • 9:30 a.m. – Yoga Flow
  • 11 a.m. – STAC

  • 6:30 p.m. – Club Cardio
