The City of Cookeville collects brush and limbs free for residents who do their own trimming and cutting.
This service is provided year round and is normally collected every 2-4 weeks.
Trucks collect by areas and Call-ins are not necessary.
Bagged yard waste material is collected year round but residents must call in to leave an address.
For pick up of bagged yard waste, call 520-5201.

Limbs, tree trunks or other debris cut by private contractors will not be picked up.

A fee of $60.00 per hour will be charged to all Commercial Businesses for brush and special pick ups.

Leaf collection begins the week of October 31 and ends March 15th. After March 15th, all leaves must be placed in bags for pick up.  Call 520-5201 to leave an address for bagged leaves.
We ask that you please follow these safety rules when placing loose leaves to the curb for collection.

  • Place leaves as close to the curb as possible.
  • DO NOT place leaves on stormwater inlets, ditches, around or on top of structures such as mail boxes, meter lids, utility lines or poles etc.
  • DO NOT place leaves in the street as this is a traffic hazard.
  • Please do not place any other debris (limbs etc) in your leaf piles. Debris other than leaves will damage machinery.

There is not a set schedule of when streets are serviced. Leaves are collected by areas every 4 to 5 weeks (weather permitting). Call-ins are not necessary. Leaf collection by vacuum trucks will end March 10th. After this date, all leaves must be placed in bags for pick up.

Please follow these rules to help us have a safe and productive season. Thank you for your cooperation.
