TVA warns of scam with man going door-to-door offering TVA services
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Valley Authority is warning people Wednesday about a scam involving a young man going door-to-door posing as a contractor.
The TVA said a young man came to a Nashville woman’s home offering to check her attic insulation. The woman described the man as a well-dressed college student wearing a badge with a lanyard and carrying a gray clipboard.
The woman told TVA the he presented the woman with a booklet on TVA’s eScore home energy efficiency program. She refused to let him inside her home, but he returned a few days later. She again refused to let him inside.
The TVA wants Tennesseans to know that it does not solicit door-to-door nor does it have any contractors affiliated with the eScore program.
It advises people to turn away anyone who approaches and claims to be affiliated with the eScore program or other TVA programs. People should report any such activity to TVA or the local power company. Please advise Cookeville Electric Department at 526-7411, if any situations are to occur.
