COOKEVILLE – The paddleboats at Cane Creek Park will soon be filled with people enjoying the sights of spring from the lake.
The boats will be available to rent April 1, when the concession stand opens for the season, through the last weekend of October.
“It’s a great way to enjoy the sunshine and scenery and get some exercise,” Dennis Woolbright, park manager, said. “We’re the only park close by where you can enjoy paddleboats.”
Paddleboats are $3 for a two-seater or $4 for a four-seater per half hour. Renters must be at least 18 years old, and children 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult. Life jackets are required and provided.
Also available to rent at the concession stand are fishing poles, basketballs, volleyballs and golf discs. All rentals are cash-only.
Concession stand hours are Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m. through Memorial Day. During the summer, hours are Monday through Saturday from noon-7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-7 p.m. Then, from the time Putnam County schools are back in session through October, hours are Saturday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from 1-7 p.m.
The 262-acre Cane Creek Park is one of 10 parks maintained by Cookeville Leisure Services. It is open 7 a.m.-9 p.m. through Memorial Day at 201 C C Camp Road.
