COOKEVILLE – Cookeville Leisure Services is offering a fitness class for homeschool students on Fridays through Oct. 27 from 1-2 p.m. at the Cane Creek Gymnasium.
Homeschool Fitness, first offered last spring, is for grades K-8. It provides a physical education option to help homeschoolers fill that curriculum requirement. The cost is $5 per drop-in student.
“We are offering different sports each week such as volleyball, pickleball, soccer, basketball, T-ball and disc golf, among other gym activities, to give students an introduction to those sports they may not be familiar with,” Lori Munson, Cane Creek Gymnasium staff, said.
Students participate in age-appropriate activities.
“We hope the students and parents will enjoy the program,” Reagan Austin, Cookeville Leisure Services athletic coordinator, said.
Cane Creek Gymnasium is located at 180 C C Camp Road in Cookeville. Regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.-10 p.m., and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. Open gym is available any time the facility is not programmed or rented, and admission is $1. Activities include basketball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball, cornhole and league sports.
