Citizen’s Fire Academy

Goal: To foster public awareness and understanding of the Cookeville Fire Department’s mission and roles in our community; through citizen’s participation and education.

Subjects that are discussed through the 11-week program are kept at a basic level and they are intended as an overview for that particular subject. These subjects are intended to cover a full spectrum of responsibilities that the Cookeville Fire Department responds to.

  • Ventilation, Salvage, and Overhaul
  • CPR and AED use
  • Basic First Aid
  • Hazardous Materials
  • Fire Codes, Fire Inspections, and Enforcement
  • Fire and Life Safety
  • Extrication

Two classes are offered each year. One is held in the spring and another in the fall. The cost for attending the Academy is $40.00.  An application is available  below in PDF format and can be faxed to 931-520-5399. Candidates must be 18 years of age to enroll.
