Green Power Switch

Commercial Sign-Up

Put Green Power to Work

Now you can choose electricity that powers your business in new ways. Green Power Switch® uses renewable energy resources to help improve the environment in the community you and your customers share.

Green Power Switch is sold in 150-kilowatt-hour blocks (about 12 percent of a typical home’s monthly energy use) that cost an additional $4 each. You can buy specific numbers of these blocks based on the amount of energy your business uses.

For instance, small businesses—those with power requirements of 50 kilowatts or less—are asked to buy at least five blocks per month. That’s an additional charge of only $20 on your monthly utility bill.

Right now, renewable resources cost more than traditional power generation methods. But by choosing to pay a little more for Green Power Switch, you help advance the technology and increase the amount of electricity generated from cleaner sources.

Generation Partners

TVA and Cookeville Electric Department offer consumers an additional opportunity to help protect the environment—a program called Generation Partners. Generation Partners provides technical support and incentives for the installation of renewable generation systems. The program makes more green power available for GPS subscribers, and it creates a market for green power generation by homeowners and businesses.

Program participants support the environment by helping keep the Tennessee Valley clean and green. They also benefit by defraying the costs of their renewable system installation and lowering their monthly energy bills through the revenue they receive from the sale of the green power.
